Hachioji City, Tokyo is a city located in the western part of Tokyo with a population of approximately 580,000 people. Although it is located approximately 60km from central Tokyo, it is a city rich in nature and home to Mt. Takao, which is part of Okutama National Park.

Mount Takao is one of Tokyo’s most famous sightseeing spots, and can be accessed from Tokyo in about an hour by train. Mt. Takao is a mountain with an altitude of 599m and is visited by many tourists throughout the year.

There are many tourist spots related to history and culture, especially the Hachioji Castle ruins, which were built in the Kamakura period and are designated as a national historic site. Koyasu Shrine is a shrine that was built during the Nara period, and an event called “Naki Sumo” is held every year on the day of the autumnal equinox.

Hachioji ramen is also famous as a local gourmet dish. The soy sauce-based ramen is topped with lots of chopped onions and is popular among locals and tourists alike.
