Utsunomiya: Features, Popular Tourist Attractions, Gourmet

Utsunomiya City is a city in Tochigi Prefecture, located in the Kanto region of Japan. It is located approximately 100 km north of Tokyo, approximately 1 hour by Shinkansen or 2 hours by car.

Utsunomiya City is also famous as the “Gyoza City”. There are many gyoza specialty shops in the city, including the commercial facility “Kirasse”, which has a collection of long-established and famous gyoza shops. Utsunomiya gyoza is characterized by its thin skin and plenty of fillings. You can enjoy it in a variety of ways, including grilling, boiling, and deep-frying.

Historical and cultural sightseeing spots include the Otani Museum (a museum that used the site of an underground mining site. A fantastic space spreads out) and Utsunomiya Castle Ruins Park (the site where Utsunomiya Castle used to be. It is now a park).
