Walking Along Odomari Beach on Ikei Island: A Quiet Okinawan Shore Before Winter

To the Beaches of Ikei Island, Just a Short Drive from Okinawa Main Island

Ikei Island is a small island connected to Okinawa Main Island by a bridge, making it easily accessible by car.

The beaches here are known for their exceptional clarity, drawing countless visitors every year for swimming, snorkeling, and marine sports.

This time, we visited Odomari Beach in November, the off-season for tourism.

Here’s a look at the beach just before winter.

For more details about Odomari Beach, see the guide below.

Paying the Entrance Fee at the Gate

When you drive up to the entrance gate, a staff member will come directly to your car.

We paid the usage fee (Adults: 500 yen) without leaving the car, and the staff directed us to the parking lot, where we parked.

Parking Lot

The parking lot is located right next to the entrance gate of Odomari Beach. It can probably fit a little over 10 cars.

Since the staff guide you, you should have no trouble finding a spot somewhere around the beach.

Beach Shop (Management Building)

This is essentially the management building. Inside you’ll find changing rooms, showers, toilets, and a first-aid room, along with rental services and a small shop.

Friendly Staff

The staff were cheerful, approachable, and welcoming, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.

A Beautiful Beach with Perfect Conditions for Snorkeling

The beach has calm waves and high water clarity, making it excellent for snorkeling. Odomari Beach allows swimming within a designated area up to 2–3 meters deep, making it one of the best-suited beaches for snorkeling on Ikei Island.

Surprisingly, the sand was almost completely free of litter.

It’s proof of how well the beach is maintained. Beaches this clean are truly rare.

An Accessible Island with a Well-Maintained, Beautiful Beach and Clear Waters

Odomari Beach is unique in that you can reach it directly by car from Okinawa Main Island, and it’s not too far from Naha.

It is thoroughly maintained, with no litter in sight.

There aren’t many beaches that combine both easy access and such clear waters, making this a true hidden gem.
