The highway bus to Inubosaki Lighthouse departs from the Bus Terminal Tokyo Yaesu, located underground at Tokyo Midtown Yaesu (directly connected to Tokyo Station’s Yaesu South Exit).
Two bus lines operate this route: Chiba Kotsu and Keisei Bus. Both follow the same route, with a travel time of approximately 2 hours and 50 minutes and a fare of 2,700 yen.
The nearest stop for both lines is “Inubosaki.” However, some buses do not go all the way to Inubosaki depending on their departure times. Be sure to check the timetable in advance. The Chiba Kotsu website provides detailed information on bus stops.
Both buses depart from the same stop: Platform 14 on the B2 floor of Bus Terminal Tokyo Yaesu.
The Inubosaki bus stop is located in front of the Inubosaki Hotel.
From here, it’s an 8-minute walk to the lighthouse.
The walking route covers a short distance of about 500 meters, leading straight to the lighthouse.
Leave the bus stop:
Turn left at the intersection, and you’ll soon see the ocean. Follow the coastline.
Pass by Inubow Terasu Terrace, and you’ll arrive at the lighthouse.
If you prefer to travel by train from Tokyo Station to Inubosaki Lighthouse, the shortest route requires two transfers, takes approximately 3 hours, and costs 2,660 yen.
Since the travel time and fare are almost the same as the highway bus, taking the direct bus is the more convenient option as it eliminates the need for transfers.
Now that you’ve made it to Inubosaki Lighthouse, you should take the time to explore more of what Choshi has to offer. Besides the lighthouse, Inubow Terasu Terrace is a great place to visit. While you can take the same highway bus from Inubosaki back to Tokyo Station, it would be a missed opportunity to travel all the way to the easternmost tip of Kanto just to see the lighthouse and leave. Instead, take some time to explore more of Choshi before heading back.
A great way to do this is by taking the Choshi Electric Railway from Inubosaki to Choshi Station.
If you still prefer to return by highway bus, you can also catch one from Choshi Station. Alternatively, you can take a JR train from Choshi Station back to Tokyo.
The Choshi Electric Railway is famous for its vintage-style train cars and its unique promotional strategies, including running a YouTube channel and even producing films. If you visit Inubosaki Lighthouse, taking a ride on the Choshi Electric Railway is highly recommended.
