The yokocho is home to a variety of shops offering yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), seafood, Italian, Chinese, gibier (wild game), and more. You can enjoy dishes made with seasonal ingredients from Yamanashi.

Try Every Shop Without Leaving Your Seat: The Shared Area

Inside the yokocho, there is a space called the Shared Area where you can order dishes from multiple shops all at once. This lets you sample a little from each restaurant.

The Shared Area is essentially a food court-like space in the center of the first floor of Kofu Gourmet Yokocho, filled with plenty of seating. You sit down, scan a QR code on your smartphone, and order through the system, allowing you to order whatever you want regardless of which shop makes it.

When you scan the QR code on your smartphone, a menu like the one below appears for ordering.

Once you place an order, staff from each shop bring the food and drinks to your table.

The beauty of it is that you never have to worry about choosing which restaurant to visit.

All the dishes and drinks introduced at the beginning of this article are from different shops, but they were all ordered from the Shared Area table. The smartphone menu does not separate items by shop, so you can order whatever catches your eye without thinking about which restaurant it belongs to.
