But did you know that Tsuruhashi is also home to a takoyaki with a jaw-dropping visual twist?
Just steps from JR Tsuruhashi Station, a yellow sign catches your eye.

Beer Crates for Tables: A No-Frills Standing-Bar Takoyaki Style
Step inside and you find stacked beer crates doubling as tables with chairs around them—a setup straight out of an old-school Osaka standing bar. Including the outdoor seats in front, the space holds just 7 to 8 guests.
Handwritten menus sit on the seats, photos of takoyaki rest on the tables, and the walls and tabletops are decked out in gold—bold decor that feels unmistakably Osaka. Yet the space somehow still feels relaxed, thanks to its down-to-earth, downtown character.
The husband and wife who run the shop are both warm and welcoming. Conversation flows easily while you wait for your order.

Crab Claws Reaching for the Sky: The Signature Takoyaki
We ordered the signature Kani Tsume-chan (crab claw takoyaki). The moment the plate arrived, we couldn’t hold back a gasp. Real crab claws jutting straight up out of each takoyaki ball—the visual impact was unreal.
We gently broke into one of the piping-hot takoyaki with chopsticks.
The rich, full-bodied dashi flavor blended with layers of crab and octopus umami, creating a taste unlike any takoyaki we had tried before. A touch of tangy mayonnaise added just the right accent.
The octopus was tender without being chewy, its flavor slowly seeping out with each bite. The crab delivered a satisfying depth of its own.
Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, the takoyaki melted away in the mouth. With every bite delivering real umami, it was hard to stop reaching for the next one. The flavor lived up to the bold visual presentation.
Behind the Bold Look: Passion and Heart in Every Takoyaki
Bold in presentation, rich in dashi and umami, crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside. Having visited many takoyaki shops across Osaka, Takoyaki Bancho is one we can recommend without hesitation.
When we asked the owner about his takoyaki, he shared how he had experimented again and again with the dashi ratio and other ingredients before arriving at the current recipe. Even so, he said he still considers himself halfway there—a dedication that speaks to his genuine passion for the craft.
Start with a simple ¥530 plain or go bold with the Kani Tsume-chan. Grab a beer, chat with the owners, and enjoy your takoyaki fresh off the griddle—that kind of fun, laid-back experience is what awaits you here.
If you find yourself in Tsuruhashi, make sure to stop by Takoyaki Bancho.
