No need to go to Seoul! Enjoy a “Hangang Ramen Experience” in Osaka
If you’ve ever watched Korean dramas, you’ve likely seen people eating instant ramen along the Hangang River in Seoul.
Now, you don’t have to travel to Seoul to experience it — you can enjoy it right here in Osaka’s Tsuruhashi.
We visited a store in Tsuruhashi, home to Osaka’s largest Koreatown, to try authentic Hangang-style ramen!
Hangang Ramen
Hangang Ramen opened on September 27, 2025, along Sokai Road in Tsuruhashi, Osaka.
The shop recreates the “ramen automatic cooking machines” seen in Seoul’s Hangang parks, allowing you to cook your own instant ramen just like locals do.
Hangang Ramen refers to the style of eating instant ramen in the parks along the Hangang River in Seoul, the capital of South Korea.
At these riverside parks, people buy instant noodles from convenience stores and use ramen cooking machines installed outside to pour hot water and boil the noodles themselves.
It’s a casual picnic-like experience that locals enjoy while taking in the scenery.
In recent years, Hangang ramen has frequently appeared in Korean dramas and variety shows, spreading the culture worldwide through social media.
For example, Hangang ramen scenes became popular in dramas like “Unknown Seoul” (Episode 2) and “King the Land” (Episode 8).
“I want to go to Seoul someday and eat ramen along the Hangang River!”
Now, you can experience that dream right here in Osaka, in Tsuruhashi.
Recreating the Riverside Vibes of Hangang Parks
The interior has a cheerful, pop atmosphere — simple and relaxed, just like enjoying ramen outdoors.
In Hangang parks, people usually sit on grass or simple folding tables and enjoy ramen without being formal.
That unpretentious vibe is faithfully recreated here.
Most of the soft drinks, kimchi, and snacks lined on the shelves are imported from Korea — so you’re not just eating ramen, you’re experiencing Korean everyday culture.
Let’s Make Hangang Ramen!
Now, let’s actually make some Hangang-style ramen.
Since it’s instant noodles, it’s super easy.
First, choose your noodles and pay at the counter.
There are so many kinds — this is where you’ll probably spend the most time deciding.
The price for noodles is ¥500–¥600.
This time, we chose Shin Ramen (¥500).

Unlimited Toppings Make It Even Better
Toppings are all-you-can-add for +¥300.
Bean sprouts, Korean fish cake slices, green onions, eggs, cheese, sausages —
all the things that make instant noodles feel a bit more special than usual are available here.
The store manager recommends adding all of them.
For the egg, drop it in when the water starts boiling — that’s the key to making it soft and delicious.
The Korean owner also shares tips on how locals actually eat Hangang ramen, making it a fun cultural experience as well.
The Ramen You Saw in K-Dramas Is Right in Front of You!
When the cooking machine stops, that’s when your ramen is ready.
Here it is!
The spicy kick of Shin Ramen becomes creamy and smooth when you add cheese.
The bean sprouts and fish cake toppings remind me of the “1,000 won topping culture” you’d find at local Korean kimbap shops.
It’s just instant noodles — nothing fancy — yet it feels so uplifting.
That’s the charm of Hangang Ramen.

I’ve actually eaten ramen at Yeouido Hangang Park in Seoul before, and this shop in Tsuruhashi offers the very same style and feeling.
