Shrine

A shrine is a sacred place to worship the gods in Shinto, Japan's traditional religion. Shrines are built in the midst of nature and are considered important places for Shinto beliefs and rituals. Generally, there is a gate called a torii, and beyond that is the main shrine or worship hall. While shrines are often enshrined as guardian deities of a region, there are many different types of shrines, including shrines that enshrine specific gods and shrines that commemorate historical events and people.
