In Japan, it is called a sacred place for campers.
The reason why it is so popular and famous is that in addition to the vast grounds with abundant nature, you can camp right in front of the majestic Mt. Fuji.
It also appeared in the manga/anime “Laid-Back Camp”, making it popular.
How Fumotoppara Campground was born
It is a Campsite with a vast site and a feeling of openness, but how did a Campsite of that size come into being?
It was originally used as a training farm for Tokyo University of Agriculture.
The current large bath, dining room, cowshed, Kenashi-san-so, and Suizan-so were facilities used for training.
The land was returned to us by the university, and the current Fumotoppara Campground began.
This Campsite is located in a field at the foot of Mt. Kenashi.
“field at the foot” is called “Fumoto no Harappa” in Japanese. That’s where the name “Fumotoppara” comes from.
