Elevation & Climate
Fumotoppara Campground is located at an elevation of 830m.
Due to the high elevation, a bit of caution is needed regarding temperatures. When I visited, it was like this:
Late March
During the day in the sun, the thermometer showed around 20°C, but the wind was chilly.
It was still cold enough to need the same gear as winter.
Late July
During the day when the sun was out, it was very hot in the sun
In the shade the breeze was cool
From evening on when the sun went down, it was cool
Mid-September
Even during the day, it’s good to have an extra layer just in case
From evening on the temperature drops, so a T-shirt alone is too cold
Fumotoppara is very wide open with nothing blocking the wind in any direction, so the wind is strong. Keep this in mind when preparing clothes too.
