Check in at the administration building and receive a map of the campsite and a vehicle pass.
Find a place to pitch your tent
Once you enter and park your car in the parking lot, first make sure you have a place to pitch your tent.
There are two locations at the Kouan campsite, a “lakeside site” and a “forest site”, and this time I wanted to pitch my tent at the lakeside site.
I’m going to check if there’s any free space at the lakeside site.
If you go through the pleasant forest from the parking lot, you will find Lake Motosu, and there is a lakeside site.
The lakeside site is popular because it overlooks Lake Motosu. Although it’s not a holiday, there are a lot of people.
You can park at the lakeside site. If you park at the lakeside site, tents and car traffic are close and convenient. However, it was already full and there was no space to park.
I gave up on parking at the lakeside site and returned to the parking lot.
I grabbed my luggage and looked for a space to pitch my tent again.
I pitched my tent a little further down the lakeside site.
The lakeside site is inconvenient if you go too far into the area, as you will have to go to the parking lot of the forest site to access the kitchen and toilets.
But the view of Lake Motosu and Mt. Fuji is amazing.
The view from the lakeside is also beautiful.
Topography of the lakeside site
The lakeside site has a slope. Therefore, you need to think about the orientation of the tent or the layout inside the tent.
We recommend arranging the inside of your tent so that you can sleep with your feet facing Lake Motosu.
Ground hardness
If you are going to a lakeside site, the gravel near the water’s edge is deep and the pegs won’t fit properly, so bring long pegs.
Some of the lakeside sites are grassy areas, so depending on the location, you may not be able to secure enough depth.
Kitchen
The kitchen is located in the parking lot of the forest site. There are many washrooms and they are clean.
The toilet and shower room are also located next to the kitchen.
Rinkan site
Speaking of Kouan Campsite, the lakeside site is popular, but the forest site is also recommended.

Buy ingredients at “Selva Minobu”
There are no shops near the Kouan campsite where you can purchase ingredients.
We drove about 30 minutes to the Selva Minobu supermarket.

It’s a large supermarket, so you can get all the ingredients you need. There is also a large drug store next door.
This is also the supermarket where Aoi-chan worked part-time in the anime “Laid-Back Camp”.
It has become a sacred place for Laid-Back Camp, and Laid-Back Camp goods were sold in one corner.

Night at Kouan campsite
It’s quiet at night. We spent a quiet night listening only to the sound of waves on Lake Motosu.
Spectacular sunrise view of Lake Motosu and Mt. Fuji
The view of the sunrise over Lake Motosu and Mt. Fuji is spectacular. It’s really very beautiful.
Just being able to see the sunrise made me think that the camp was worth it. It was really beautiful and I kept looking at it.
