We arrived around 13:00, and there was already a line forming as it was a popular restaurant.

It seems that not only tourists but also many locals come to eat here, which shows that the restaurant is not just for tourists, but is loved by the locals on a daily basis.

I was very happy with the attentiveness of the proprietress who ran the restaurant, and the store was always surrounded by a calm and pleasant atmosphere.

I ordered Maruichi Shokudo’s specialty, Umaka bowl (900 yen).

It contains about half sweetly boiled horse meat and half venison.

Both the horse meat and the venison were tender and had a gentle flavor that made my chopsticks go well. It was very delicious.

The restaurant is so popular that it closes before the closing time for lunch at 2:30 p.m., so we recommend getting there early.
