Nationally designated Places of Scenic Beauty
Nationally Designated Places of Scenic Beauty is a system in which the Japanese government designates particularly valuable natural and historical landscapes, and protects and preserves them. Scenic spots are part of Japan's rich cultural heritage and are popular tourist destinations. Many of Japan's most famous scenic spots have been designated, including Mt. Fuji, Yakushima, Katsura Imperial Villa, and Kenrokuen.
