MIRAIZA Osaka-jo is a commercial facility located within Osaka Castle. There are plenty of restaurants and souvenir shops, and it is a popular Osaka Castle tourist spot. It is also the closest place where you can eat while looking at Osaka Castle.
A large European-style building next to Osaka Castle’s castle tower. People who see it for the first time will be surprised at how strange it feels.
This building was constructed in 1931 as the headquarters of the former Japanese Army’s 4th Division. Over time, it has since changed to the Osaka City Metropolitan Police Department, the Osaka Prefectural Police Headquarters, and the Osaka City Museum, and was reborn as MIRAIZA Osaka-jo on October 19, 2017.
Most people tend to focus on Osaka Castle’s castle tower when they see it, but it is actually a very valuable building historically.
Currently, restaurants and souvenir shops are open as MIRAIZA Osaka-jo, but the beauty of the interior of the building remains intact.
Osaka Castle dates back to the Sengoku period and the Edo period, but when you come to MIRAIZA Osaka-jo, you can feel the Meiji and Taisho periods.
MIRAIZA Osaka-jo has two souvenir shops called “Ninja” and “Osaka Castle Honjin.”
Of course, we also sell a lot of Osaka souvenirs such as sweets.
However, what is noteworthy is that they sell a lot of goods related to castles, samurai, and ninjas. For example, we also sell Japanese swords (imitation swords).
There is also a “Shuriken Dojo” where you can learn how to throw shuriken and actually throw them.
The samurai and ninja goods are particularly popular with overseas tourists and children, and the store is always busy.
By the way, there are ninjas inside MIRAIZA Osaka-jo, so please look for them.
This is not the end yet. MIRAIZA Osaka-jo is attached to the Kaiyodo Figure Museum, where you can enjoy as many as 3,000 figures.
There is a fee to enter the museum, but admission to the museum shop is free. You can purchase souvenirs at the museum shop, and there are many figurines on display there as well.
On the 1st floor of MIRAIZA Osaka-jo, there is a restaurant where you can enjoy light meals such as ice cream and takoyaki.
There are also restaurants on the second and third floors, as well as on the rooftop, so you can enjoy your meal while looking out at Osaka Castle from the terrace seats.
MIRAIZA Osaka-jo, overlooking Osaka Castle Castle, the symbol of Osaka Castle Park, is a popular complex that combines a dignified building with a sense of history and a sophisticated modern design.
It’s fun to look around for Osaka souvenirs and samurai and ninja goods that symbolize Japan, and if you get tired, you can have a light meal or have a hearty meal while looking at Osaka Castle.
It is also a historical building as valuable as Osaka Castle.
