We visited the “Tokyo Outdoor Show 2022” held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture.

The Tokyo Outdoor Show (TOKYO OUTDOOR SHOW) is a large-scale event gathering the latest in outdoor gear, fashion, mobility, ecology, lifestyle, and tourism-related products all in one place.
This event showcases new products and services from both Japanese and international outdoor brands and automotive manufacturers, allowing attendees to experience and purchase new outdoor gear. Additionally, a variety of programs are held, including talk shows by celebrities and family-friendly workshops.
A significant feature of this event is the focus on displays that integrate outdoor life with automotive brands, featuring mobility solutions such as campers and SUVs.

From JR Kaihin-Makuhari Station to Makuhari Messe

The event opens at 9:00 am, so we headed to JR Kaihin-Makuhari Station in time to arrive before that.

After passing through the security check and temperature screening, we were able to enter within about five minutes.
We went through baggage check, temperature screening, and QR code entry reception before entering the venue.
The entrance featured displays of camping gear.
Right After Opening! Opening Ceremony
We arrived at International Exhibition Hall 11.
As it was still just after opening, the crowds weren’t too thick yet.

THE NORTH FACE
The compact booth was packed with camping gear arranged to create a cohesive story, making it easy to imagine the actual use scenarios.
The range of coolers was extensive.
They come in various sizes with a reputation for great texture and durability.

The chair design is simple and timeless.
And here is the Evabase 6 tent. It’s the perfect size for a family of three.
KEEN UTILITY
This is the booth for “KEEN UTILITY,” the work boot category from outdoor footwear brand KEEN.
While KEEN sells shoes and boots for casual and hiking in their “OUTSIDE” category, these are built for tougher conditions, with reinforced toes and more. This is the “KEEN UTILITY” brand. The booth featured mainly new releases.
Instant Print! Free Bandana Giveaway
At KEEN’s booth, they offered a free bandana in exchange for following their Instagram account. It was printed on the spot.
You could choose the fabric color—white, black, or yellow—and select from two patterns for printing.

Outdoor Spice “Horinishi”
The booth for the outdoor spice “Horinishi” offered their lineup of products: “Horinishi,” “Horinishi Gold,” and “Horinishi Red.”

- Nicknamed “White Horinishi,” this is the base product and the most basic of the lineup.
- Horinishi RED
- Nicknamed “Red Horinishi,” it’s a spicier version of the White Horinishi.
- Horinishi Premium (Gold)
- Nicknamed “Gold Horinishi,” this premium product includes “White Truffle Salt,” made by combining truffle—one of the world’s three greatest delicacies—and salt, originally sold through crowdfunding.
I also bought some Horinishi. It’s now a staple spice for outdoor cooking.

They sold leather products available at the Asagiri Food Court and original goods from their shop.

A garage brand producing lantern shades compatible with Goal Zero, Redlenser ML4, small LED lanterns, and LED lights, ”COLONISTA.”
Celebrity Vehicles Display
Celebrity vehicles were also on display.

One of the booths was offering outdoor boots at outlet prices, with discounts between 50-80% off—a popular spot unique to events like this.
Everlasting Bonsai “Dry Bonsai”
The booth of Dry Bonsai was also present, showcasing eco-friendly bonsai made from reused dry plants—well-suited to the event’s eco-conscious themes.
Approaching Noon, the Venue Gets Even Livelier

Around this time, the crowds thickened, and the excitement was evident.
