When it comes to wine to drink at Christmas or during winter, “mulled wine (Glühwein)” is famous.
However, mulled wine is not sold in Japanese supermarkets or convenience stores, so it cannot be easily purchased.
Meanwhile, mulled wine was being sold at the supermarket KALDI.
KALDI is a Japanese supermarket that sells seasonings and ingredients from all over the world. We have stores in all prefectures in Japan.
I actually went to KALDI and bought some mulled wine and tried it at home.
Mulled wine “Rapunzel” available at KALDI
[Alcohol] Rapunzel Mulled Wine (Red) 1000ml - KALDI Online Store
This is mulled white wine.
Warm the mulled wine to the right temperature
I bought a bottle of Rapunzel.
Transfer to a mug or heat-resistant container and heat in the microwave, or pour wine directly into a pot and heat to around 50 degrees without letting it boil.
If you heat it above 78 degrees Celsius, the alcohol will evaporate, so warm it carefully.
It’s difficult to control the temperature, so you can use the microwave’s “warm sake” function to warm it up nicely.
Generally, heating was completed in about 1 minute.
What’s the most important taste?
Rapunzel’s taste was very flat, and it was a delicious mulled wine that everyone loved.
Moderate fruit flavor and moderate sweetness. The cinnamon and spices are just right, and everything feels like it’s not too harsh.
I’ve been drinking a lot of mulled wine at shops, but depending on the brand, some have a strong cinnamon flavor, others are extremely sweet, so it’s been difficult to find the one that suits me, but Rapunzel is a mulled wine that is loved by everyone. I think.
For example, from here you can add cinnamon or sliced lemon to create your own color.
If it’s winter, drinking it with candied ginger will warm your body and taste delicious.
This time, I had it with olives, cheese, and prosciutto.
